The 5310 Testament By Freddy S Zalta http://ift.tt/1WSacIj In the beginning...I was sitting in Starbucks when I an old friend came over to me. She was also a former girlfriend who had morphed into the platonic friend category when she married one of my closest friends. She stood above me and smiled. "Hey Freddy is this seat taken?" That smile, still slays me after so many years. "Ha, once you sit there it will be." I stood up to give her a kiss on the cheek and a short embrace. "How are you?" I asked innocently, not really interested but what else do you ask? "Dont ask!" She said. "But..." I was cut off. She spent the next 20 minutes telling me her problems in too graphic detail and then ended it by standing up. "Thank you for listening, Freddy, it means so much to me that you care." She kissed me too close to my lips and turned to leave. "Anytime you need anything, ya know, call me." She turned and smiled that smile. I sat down and began to check my emails when a lady stood above me and asked me, "Is anyone sitting here?" I nodded, no and she sat down. "I couldn't help but notice the way you helped your friend just now. I am also going through..." She went on and on for 20 minutes, stood up, gave me a short embrace, turned and left. "That was strange." I thought to myself. I clicked on my outlook button when I was greeted, once again, by a lady asking if the seat was taken. It was then I noticed a line of people staring and apparently waiting to speak to me. That was the morning I became, well, a spiritual leader to the disenchanted customers of Starbucks.Instagram

The 5,310 Testament

"Hey Freddy is this seat taken?" That smile, still slays me after so many years. The coffee, the muffins, egg salad on whole grain, a large water bottle, another cup of coffee and a late afternoon large chocolate chunk cookie; they continued to be presented to me along with emotional confessions of fears, guilt, lust, loneliness, frustrations, disillusions about the promises of what life should be and so many other feelings that I could not name them all here.

From across the lake Johnny was inhaling and then purposefully exhaling unfiltered Camels. With each inhale he would be thinking about the summer of 2013 – August to be exact. With each exhale he would be thinking about the fall of 2013, Labor Day – to be exact. Read more http://ift.tt/1KwPQAu Instagram Daily Stupidity

Where it all Begins and Ends

He stood outside of his old 'once expensive car' and watched the party taking shape. The bass booming like a deep voiced whisper... He wasn't ready to see her again - wasn't ready to see her because he knew he would do something stupid and reckless. Something stupid and reckless like fall in love all over again.

Invisible Bars

It begins with the birth of an emotion. Unsure of just what the nature of it you shrug it off and try to force sleep. Suddenly you are aware of your heartbeat… Breathing becomes uneasy and suddenly sweat appears upon your brow and your upper lip. Throw off the cover and then you begin to […]

One O One (Happy Birthday)

This world is short on kindness and we can use some more love down here. Can you sense the pain we feel? Send down some hope and send down some love. Let it rain smiles and make all the good dreams come true.

Old Times So Long Ago

The door closed behind me and I felt a sharp breeze against my exposed chest. I walked down the four stairs onto the sidewalk. There was snow floating, a subway train screeching and a full moon fighting its way through the late December clouds. I walked towards my car, decided to walk and pulled up […]

When He Was Just Daddy

On May 9th, 2015, my father, Sam Zalta passed away in his sleep – he a month away from turning 101 years old.  When He Was Just Daddy Friday afternoons we couldn’t wait to hear the front door of apartment 2D open. My mom would be in the kitchen cooking up the Shabbat meal and […]

I found a Red Rose

As I walk across the midnight streets, aglow from the earlier rainfall, I sense a sudden gust of fresh air coming from the north. I lift up my arms and I spin around, like a madman or a clown in a circus somewhere. I feel elated, I feel free and these feelings feel like an […]

A Story to Tell chapter 7

He would always, always use the wrong word in sentences. At first she thought he was kidding, but as they kept on speaking she realized he was, unfortunately not. "I could use a great massage - do you know any good misogynists?" "I find your perfume quite repugnant, Sandy." "I was wondering if they had a boy or girl...when I got to the Brit Milah there was blue all over, so I assumed it was a boy." "They should have exonerated that man, he was so guilty. So sad." She broke the news to him that they needed to stop meeting.

Infinite Loss

It was not just six million - an infinite amount of lives will never fight for equality, cure the sick, feed the poor or create agriculture in a barren land. So, no, I will repeat it here. It was not just six million who perished - nor the lived they would have birthed. Think about the contributions that could have saved lives, stopped suffering and added light and understanding into a dark ignorant world.
