Destinies and Passions

Be persistent - stay persistent and be passionate about Find your passion - it took me 50 years to realize that my passion is putting words onto paper and watching them take on a life of their own.

When the time has Run out…

When love is all around, as you are lowered into the ground - what are you feeling? Is it peace or regret?

The Muttering River

The lake was on the other side of the county - I never really went there too often since I felt, in a strange way, that I was cheating on the river by enjoying the lake. Strange since I also felt like I was cheating on Jacklyn by enjoying Sandy.

The Muttering River – Chapter 1

I would be hanging out with my friends in the parking lot of the diner, laughing and flirting with the girls and suddenly a blanket would fall over me. I would feel a sense of dread, like a bruise inside of me pulsating...I would go use the bathroom and then find my way to the river.  This happened often and then too often.

Pink and Other shades of Love

A Shadow of two people dancing as a crooner sings a song professing his love for his lady. They are slow dancing on a roof somewhere and the shadow is being cast by a full moon over New York City. The crooner is coming out of a small radio and the couple are each from France. They had arrived in New York ten years earlier, separately, with different spouses, to escape the Germans who were now marching through Paris, but who back then, were just knocking on the doors of France  - all set to break them down if not opened.

You Know the Song

There was a sunrise and then just as quickly a sunset. You know the song… Time goes way too quickly and youth vanishes overnight.

Ten Million Smiles

Ten million smiles… But where does it all go? That magic and spiritual warmth? Are the lights shut down forever? How can something that existed for so long suddenly be extinguished and one day, forgotten? A life in pictures, smiles and adoration. Cold winter days and storms brewing. Your eyes were like a furnace warning up the room, the city, the world. Our world.

Jubilation and Waiting

Counter feelings on the battle fields, fighting hand in hand warfare. Blood in the grass and death at my feet. Dreams, desires, hopes and lovers… Last grasp for the chance to live again… To be reborn…

Absurd Beauty

A list of lovers, a litany of excuses. Forgiven each time for the beauty… Below the blood red moon, yellow doors slamming shut and pebbles thrown against the windows of her room.

Claustrophobic ambitions can never set one free.  Thunderstorms and broken inhibitions are a recipe for love.

Red Sangria (Proof of a past)

We once ran up the streets together, baseball gloves and bats in hand. We used to walk together singing the same songs, reading the same books and even loving the same women.  We once were like brothers – I can feel your embrace and remember our conversations late into the night. I trusted you implicitly […]

Joke was Not Funny (or Dirty Stained Teardrops)

When the joke is not funny and it never truly was... When her eyes seemed true and you remember them as blue, but the tears she cried were brown with lies and dirt which fell down. Stained your white shirt and destroyed all sense of trust…

False Reflecting Mirrors (or Broken Clocks)

A new day, just like the old day. Same old broken clocks on the walls and false reflecting mirrors. Outside there is scattered trash spinning in the wind and abandoned cars that have run out fuel - no way to go further..

Reject hatred and reject conformity. Embrace love and accept diversity… Sometimes wars need to be fought to eradicate the ones who live to kill. Peace is only true if fear is non-existent.

Ready

The temperature is cold and the sky is dark...the morning comes… Birds gossiping in the trees, squirrels mining their acorns and cats moaning in heat. Brooklyn brownstones, streets of cobblestones and the Manhattan Bridge…

If… (or friday night candles)

If love is only an emotion then a heart is only a steady drum. If love is only an emotion then a heart is only a steady drum. If love is only an emotion then a heart is only a steady drum.

Most of the colors have faded, the sun is on the beach somewhere and there is a cold gust of loneliness being thrust onto these tracks. No train coming, nothing in sight. No time for dreaming, maybe tonight. When the street lights turn on, the purple sky above us, the winds blowing and the sounds […]

Whispers of Memories

Scenes from an old coffee shop in Coney Island where we used to go...too much sugar in that small cup made your tongue taste sweeter than it should have. It must have been me, must have been my fault. I had no idea, I had no clue - I still have no idea and have no clue - but I can act the part and write the lines myself.

Tough and Gentle

He is sitting there, no light in his eyes Who stole it or did he sell it to the man living on the border line by the river Diablo? That tall man with the crooked conscience who will never learn how to live true… It's sad when you really think about it but who has time or energy to think anymore.
