It was always Ginger. Mary Ann was the brainy beautiful assistant to the Professor. She had a way about her that was part best friend and part sexy. A drinking buddy for sure and a dance partner no doubt. For years we chose Mary Ann as the one we loved, but deep inside we knew, it was Ginger. She had that silken voice, tanned skin and those soft eyes. Look at her in a picture and there is no denying she was the “movie star.” She made us laugh, wore skimpy clothes and and spoke in a soft sexy voice. Oh to be on a deserted island with her..what were the men thinking? Gilligan, the Millionaire, the Professor and the Skipper – sure none of them could measure up to her physically – but you are on a deserted island for god sakes. Gilligan had his chances and the skipper tried his best to woo the starlet but just wasn’t up for the challenge. In real life – Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) received twice the amount of fan mail then Ginger (Tina Louise) during the run of the show. How can that be? Was it the seemingly intelligence factor that enticed men or was it the girl next door, down to earth perkiness which endeared her most to fans? I don’t know – looking back now as a 52 year old man I can see some of my own lack of confidence in my choice of Mary Ann. Mary Ann was attainable while Ginger was a fantasy which I simply had no right to pursue. Or perhaps it is my turning 52 years old which propels me in the direction of the unattainable? At my age who wants a Mary Ann when you can have a Ginger? Mary Ann, while beautiful in her own right, was easy to speak to and could bake a mean pie. She did have her sexiness as well but Ginger is spicy while Mary Ann is sweet as a blueberry pie. But there is something about Ginger… #ginger #mondaymotivation #love #threehourtourInstagram

“That’s a lot of luggage to bring into a marriage.” “As if it’s not tough as it is.” She said. “What are you going to tell her?” “I am going to tell her to make a decision based on what she feels. If she is scared at any time when she is with him - that is a bad thing. Couples should feel safe when they are together.” “So why don't you just tell her not to marry him?” “Because it’s her decision to make. If I tell her to do something it's my decision. She needs to understand that whatever direction she is going to choose in life, she has to own it.” Read the full post https://ift.tt/2uQP4uT #photolab #strangers #nydn #life #shortstoryoftheday #wordpress #chooseyourlifeInstagram

That Anxious Feeling Chapter 2

Consider the bottle your head, the champagne your brain and the bubbles your emotions. There is only so much your emotions can be held in check before they find their way out again. They need to be expressed and your subconscious mind wants them to be expressed. It is your conscious mind which is scared of what these emotions may reveal about yourself once they are exposed to the scrutiny of others - this causes anxiety and the closer they get to being revealed - panic.

The Turtle and a Life of Lemons

Charles stayed in the store on the outskirts of Nowhere, New York and drank several cups of coffee during the day. One day he found a manuscript with his name on it. There was a date beneath his name, May 22, 1925. “A Life of Lemons,” By Charles Rumpio.

I Missed The Parade

I missed the parade… Where are the balloons, flying high in the sky? The people cheering, the confetti falling and the sounds of music? I had been promised cotton candy and giant lollipops, popcorn and hot dogs, soda of each and every kind… Long legged ladies and handsome dressed men, marching, dancing and singing in celebration. I missed the parade…

I missed the parade… Where are the marching bands? Where are the big balloons? Where has the sound of the people cheering, the music playing and the fireworks gone? I was told there would be cotton candy, long legged ladies and the sounds of celebrations… I am standing here on an empty street wondering if I might have picked the wrong day, time or place. Wasn't there cause for celebration? Fireworks lighting up the sky? Wasn't there supposed to be a parade? I walk alone and I catch a glimpse of a shooting star across the sky. There are fireflies blinking and the sounds of crickets, cicadas and snoring ducks on the lake. The smell of the wood burning somewhere and the distance memories of a celebration held a long time ago. Ghosts in the dark, laughter and slow dancing. A band playing and the countdown towards a new beginning, a commencement with pomp and circumstance...ghosts in the darkness, I can imagine the celebrations… I missed the parade… #mondaymood #poemoftheday #parade #ghostsinthenightInstagram

An old advertisement, a post card or perhaps an old Hallmark card. Memories of an easier time can be masqueraded to allow us to vacate our present for a moment or two for a glimpse back in time when so many worlds were yet to be seen. #cocacola #sunday #retroadvertising #poetryInstagram

True personal freedom is the ultimate goal - can you imagine yourself being truly free? It's not as simple as you think. True personal freedom can be as elusive as choosing the winning lottery numbers. It's not as simple as reading that book or taking that pill - although they are part of the process; it takes a lot of introspection and honest assessments of yourself in order to have a glimpse of just who it is you truly are. This can be painful. #freedom #love #photolab #innertruth #tgif Full post https://ift.tt/2zEeD7d

Thailand and the Freedom of Choice

Some people are praising the Lord for the rescue mission - that's all well and good - but, it was the human freedom of choice which caused and which ended the ordeal. If we praise the Lord for every situation such as this - who do we blame when human indifference or human violence steals the freedom and the life from millions of people around the world? Is God still in control then? It's easy to give full credit and blame to a Higher power - it's imperative and the survival of the world depends on it -  for us to take responsibility to act when we can.

The problem with fear and anxiety is that unless you have been through it – it makes no sense to you and you simply want to smack the person experiencing it and say, “Get over it!” If only it were that simple… The fear of impending doom one feels when in the midst of a panic attack is indescribable to others who have never encountered this silent band of demons. Think of it as if having a revolver pointed at you from ten different angles while the piecing sounds of rebel yells are coming at you in maximum surround sound clarity. Reality has nothing to do with the scenes you are experiencing, but to the person in the throes of the attack, they are as real as the heart that is pounding in your chest. In order to learn to defeat these authentic yet countrerfeit scenes of doom and impending disaster – one needs to become more aware of the emotions they are suppressing or impressing upon themselves. #photolabpro #depression #anxiety #panicattack https://ift.tt/2MSuq4g

Feeling and Saying, “Thank You”

Some people pray to their higher power with words written by others and read them quickly to get through the task.   Think of it like a little kid when their guardian says, “Say thank you.” They put on an angry face and say in a deep and quick pace, “Thankyou.” “Thank yous” become a reflex reaction like a knee jerk. You are given something that is priceless and you say, “Thank you.” A sports player excels and points at the sky and says, “Thank you.” But when they fail do they express gratitude for at least being given the chance?

Feeling and saying thank you Read more https://ift.tt/2tKIOV7 There are so many gifts we are given that are easily taken for granted. We are so caught up in the “what we need” that we forget just what it is that we have. The needs and the haves are different for each individual. Why one side is feasting while others down the road are starving - as much as we try to understand - we truly have no clue. We all feel some sense of gratitude about some parts of life. But it's the verbalizing of this gratitude which we let slip away. I am sure people will deny ever failing to express gratitude. Roberto Martin Antonio Bonilla is a former player in Major League Baseball of Puerto Rican descent who played from 1986 to 2001.  He sends a thank you note to his bosses every July 2... Each year on the first of July, the former Met collects a paycheck of just under $1.2 Million, $1,193,248.20 to be exact - all the way until 2035. Why? Because the Mets deferred the $5.9 Million he was supposed to make in 2000, when he was released in January and never even played - stretching it out 24 years with eight percent interest. That $5.9 Million will actually be $29.8 Million. #bobbybonilladay #mets #wilponsInstagram
